STAY AT THIS PRIME LOCATION IN BOTSWANA, JUST OFF THE BANKS OF THE KHWAI RIVER
Set within the Okavango Delta’s community-run Khwai Concession, this beautiful camp is tucked under the trees on the edge of the Khwai River. This river is all that separates the iconic Moremi Game Reserve and the concession, with hippos, elephants and even lions crossing over from time to time. Watching these animals manoeuvre through the water is an exceptional experience for even the most travelled safari veterans.
The elegantly designed camp hosts six standard tents and one family unit, keeping in line with the intimate and exclusive wilderness experience. The new camp effortlessly bridges the gap between luxury accommodation and feeling like you’re in the great African outdoors. Woven baskets and beaded décor, along with modern elements, create an authentic contemporary African style.
During the day, guests can enjoy game drives, walking safaris and mokoro safaris (water levels permitting) on the search for Africa’s big attractions including lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe. An additional virtue of this area is that guests can head off on night drives and get an up-close and personal experience with some of Africa’s nocturnal and more elusive animals.
Khwai’s biggest drawcard is undoubtedly the plentiful and extraordinary wildlife – you’ll never be bored here! Adventure and relaxation are on offer as guests live out their ultimate safari experience – from setting off on a morning walking safari to enjoying a gin and tonic overlooking the Khwai River.

8 months agoKhwai Leadwood is an unforgettable experience. We want to thank Nico and the whole team for taking care of us throughout our stay. Their smiles, their warmth and their service are unique. Our special thanks go to Gilbert, our safari guide. During the breathtaking Safaris and other activities we really appreciated his deep knowledge of nature and wildlife. Thanks to his endurance we managed to see a lot of animals. Thanks for everything, the memories we made will be forever in our hearts.

a year agoSinka was incredible I know the only reason we saw leopards, lions, a hyena, wild dog and a bush baby in one day is because of his amazing knowledge and tracking skills. The view at the camp was beautiful and the food was delicious. Our hosts Nico and Mimi were really nice and welcoming.

a year agoI cannot say enough about my experience at khwai leadwood. From the moment you arrive you are met with the beautiful, caring staff singing and welcoming you.. Your every need is swiftly met while there. The camp is gorgeous and the property stunning. The food absolutely amazing, I stayed at 3 luxury camps and this was my favorite by far. The people I met were fantastic, as a solo traveler, this was a plus, we all enjoyed each other and our time together. Our rangers Chief and Sharon were so awesome, I already miss them. They were a wealth of knowledge and took such great care of us. The beds amazing, major plus, and I loved that being a luxury tented camp, it enabled you to hear the animals at night. If you are heading to Botswana, make this your camp, you will be happy you did.

2 years agoThis lodge is brand new, we’ll just about. It’s in the Khwai concession which borders Moremi. Theo she itself is immaculate, really luxurious and is tough to describe other than being really amazing. It’s inconceivable anyone would find better even in the African bush lodge camps. The staff are a highlight and just incredibly helpful, friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about the Ocovango Delta and the various aspects relating to it. Game viewing was off the charts with a massive pride of lions within metres of us, leopard, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes and more predator and non predator wild life than I’ve ever seen. It’s well above average. The area, that being the delta is really unique from anything I’ve seen (mostly camps in South Africa) and a must to see and experience. The way the vehicles drive through water covering the headlamps to the way wildlife interacts with this unique environment. This is a must do and one you wouldn’t regret. We did some extra activities like picnics and helicopter tours of the delta which I highly recommend. Our accommodation here and extra activities were all booked via Royal Ngala safaris, guy named Cameron Scott. I highly recommend him to any USA, Europe and African Travellers, he just handled everything and made it super easy for us to just arrive and enjoy ourselves.
