SALT Boutique Guesthouse

Overall a cute,cozy experience. It’s neat and clean. We stayed in the Deborah room and the door handle to the bathroom is broken and you could get locked in. It’s also quite noisy in the kitchen from 7am so sleeping in isn’t quite an option and there’s only outside parking.

We are currently still staying one more night (out of four) at the Salt Boutique Hotel. and they have booked an event for the venue: a tourism event with a “silent disco”. There are RANDOM people walking around our hotel room, going to the toilet near our room, walking up the stairs, walking outside our window, opening the sliding room in and out to get inside where we only have a thin door between us, YELLING in the yard. We were NOT informed of any event. There was NO notification or WhatsApp message. I have read older reviews and this has HAPPENED BEFORE too. Our bedroom, Deborah, also has a really small bathroom. The toilet is really low and the seat itself is really small. The bathroom door handle is also loose and the screws are coming out. Our light fixture is also broken. The Netflix account is also not functioning since last night. I sent a message to the reception, and two men just walked into my room looking to solve the issue. They were also clearly at the “silent disco” and did not want to be bothered. They apologised for the inconvenience, told us the issue would be solved tomorrow and blamed the Netflix account being broken on the weather, even though all the other networks still worked. We were also asked to leave our key to have our room cleaned, if we wanted, because their only other key apparently broke. On top of that, I eat a plant-based diet. My partner eats everything. We went to breakfast early, around 8:00, each day to get on with the day. We waited over an hour to get our food each day. My partner had an English Breakfast that was quite consistent in size over the three days, however, they did not have a consistent Vegan meal for me each morning. They didn’t have any alternative milk either. My breakfast on day 1 was: 2 pieces of toast, a half an avocado, 2x veggie sausages, and a veggie mixed that was mushrooms, bell peppers, and tomatoes. Day two: 2 pieces of toast, 2Tbsp worth of baked beans, and the same mixed veggies. Day three: 1 piece of toast, 1x Veggie Sausage, 2Tbsp worth of baked beans, and mixed veggies. I often repeated that I am Vegan and don’t eat butter, but I had the same allergic reaction I normally do when I have milk or products containing lactose, after eating my food. I don’t normally complain about food, but they also had two other guest on a strictly Vegan diet at breakfast. I am severely disappointed because I have visited the Salt Boutique Hotel with my partner in August 2023 as well. We stayed in the Bish room, which was much better, even if some things still bothered us. This is an UNACCEPTABLE way of treating your customers. You CERTAINLY don’t throw an event when you have paying customers only a door away. It is currently 23:45 and they are still busy.

Room was perfect and clean. However there was a knocking sound but it could be due to weather. Had a problem with internet and netflix but demi sorted it out asap. Bathroom, shower was amazing!!! Breakfast was amazing too thank you.

Lovely and quaint little guesthouse with lovely front of house staff. Breakfasts were lovely. We stayed 2 nights in January 2024, the only downside was the water in the shower, either ICE COLD OR BOILING HOT. On the first night I called the emergency number and the guy who I spoke to never called me back or sorted it out. The next morning the handyman assured me the issue was solved, sadly it was not resolved. By the second night again I was livid and just either froze or got burnt by the shower. Wish they would’ve dealt with the matter with a sense of urgency and priority. At no point did they apologise or excuse themselves for the inconvenience experienced.

I booked a Villa for 1 night. The rooms are very spacious. I was disappointed that there was no tea & coffee in the room when I checked in. I went to the receptionist and she gave me tea, milk and sugar and apologised for the oversight, as the room was advertised to include beverages. A thorough job was not executed in cleaning the kitchen area, as there was a lot of ants on the counter, apart from that the room was neat and clean. The aircon fan hits the seashell feature in the room, and the aircon fan cannot be altered. If you sleep with the aircon on this will may hinder your sleep ever so slightly if you are a light sleeper. The breakfast was the highlight of the accomodation - well done to the staff! The WiFi worked for all of 10 minutes when I checked in, and thereafter did not work at all. I did inform the receptionist and she said they have been struggling with the WiFi connection for the last few days and there was nothing she could do to assist. The overall area and environment of the guesthouse is very peaceful and it’s a 15-20 minute walk to the beach. There is no gated parking, you have to park outside the guesthouse, but there is a camera overlooking the parking area.
