“Located in Buvungira Cell of Bushekeri Sector of Nyamasheke district of the Western Province of Rwanda, Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel is owned by a Rwandese entrepreneur and conservationist. In operation since February 2011, the hotel is composed of two distinct compartments. The main area consists of a large, two-tiered rondavel (see photo below) with a phenomenally high roof. Although a rondavel is usually a traditionally built round house, this building offers a rather more modern take on the theme. The ground floor, where you find the reception, is furnished with a few modern angular sofas and walls adorned with traditional Rwandan murals.Circular wicker lights hang from the ceiling and dark tiled stairs lead you up to a mezzanine balcony. Whereas the basement cubicle hosts administration offices, the reception, kitchen, store and the laundry, it is the second level that hosts dining area and the bar both with tables and chairs set on a rather out-of-place black-tiled floor and a sweeping veranda with all-weather tables and chairs of steel and moulded materials. The views from here are stunning and on clear days you can even see Lake Kivu and the volcanoes of far North Rwanda and the Eastern of Democratic Republic of Congo. The bar on this level is entirely decorated from bottle tops, giving it a bright but simple look.” – Nyungwe Top View Hotel

We had a lovely stay here, centred around a chimpanzee tracking day and canopy walk. The food was a standout, particularly the beef on our first night - they also provided takeaway breakfast and lunch which was generous and substantial. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, we were impressed with everyone but particularly Jean D'amour :) As others have said the views are spectacular and everything was very comfortable. Only four stars for the room, due to the lack of mosquito netting around the bed - this wasn't a major problem but did mean we had a couple of bites on the first night.

We had a very bad experience at the restaurant here. Food was expensive, took 1.5hrs to arrive and two of our party ended up with food poisoning. Would avoid from a food perspective. I gave two star rather than one as the rooms look nice, but we didn't stay as hotel guests.

Top view Hill Hotel is absolutely fantastic. The accommodations and staff are better than I could ever imagine. I have stayed at luxury hotels across Africa, and this one certainly meets all of the requirements. At night warm water bottles were placed in my bed and sheets and towels were cleaned daily. Fresh flowers in the bathroom and a fire stoked in my room each night were wonderful touches. You are minutes away from the national park and transportation to and from the hotels is quite simple. If you want to spend 10 times more money, you can go to a slightly better hotel called one and only but I say save your money and have a wonderful experience at Top View. :)

The hotel is beautiful, very relaxing. Staff are great, always aware if you need something like bringing food to your tours or taking care you don't carry your luggage in your check in or check out. I really enjoyed staying in Top View.

The hotel is located on a strategic point where you have beautiful views if the sun shines. Rooms are big enough and well decorated. The staff are friendly and really do their best. The food though was terrible. The vegetables were definitely not fresh but from a can. The fish fillet didn't have any taste. I asked for coconut sauce but cocktail sauce was made. The staff didn't even apologize for the mishap but tried to convince me that's it was coconut sauce Such a pity because it's such a nice location. Breakfast was terrible too. Dry bread. The manager should ensure that quality food is served. Otherwise the place is just over priced!!!
