“The Bamboo Village Resort has given way to a lush seaside resort, combining refinement and sophistication to make you feel at home too. Better than talking about experiences here is to actually live them.” – Bamboo Village Resort

Second visit to The Gambia 🇬🇲. This was a very quiet, clean, and comfortable hotel with freshly cooked to order delicious food. Nice lit up pools at night, too. Nothing but the sounds of nature.

I actually stay across the street at a different hotel BUT I come here just for the food during day shift. The woman who cooks in the kitchen (Mariama) is absolutely AMAZING! If you want delicious african made food, she is the one to go to. I especially recommend Chicken Afra from her. She is so sweet and knows what she is doing. Next time I come to Gambia I'll definitely be staying here just because of the delicious african food that they cook. The cook is off on Mondays but definitely check her out any other day of the week! Also the bar staff (Fa Ceesay) during the day and the waiter (Abubacarr) gives excellent service and will provide you with all your needs!

I really liked this hotel except that I "lost" some cash. I stayed here for a few nights with my boyfriend. During our first night we had left a bundle of CFA cash on a table. Since we couldn't get the safe open, we thought we'll just leave it for an hour before we headed out to get it exchanged to Dalasi. However, when we came back the cash was gone. We looked absolutely everywhere, because we would never assume that someone stole the money, but it was totally gone and we 100% knew it had been on the table since we had a discussion about it earlier. The room had been cleaned, so we thought perhaps it was mistaken as tips - our bad! But since we are students and it was quite a lot, we spoke to the reception. I said that maybe they had mistaken it for tips, but that it was not our intention. The receptionist said she would look into it, meanwhile we went to the ATM. We came back shortly, and together with the entire cleaning staff we had a talk in our room - which was a bit strange. They left and told us to look again, which we did for a long while. We turned our whole room upside down, including the trashcan in the bathroom twice. We admitted defeat and went to the pool. About an hour later, we went back to our room and the bundle of cash had appeared in the trashcan...Quite suspicious! It is obvious someone took it, but we just wanted our money back - not getting someone who made one poor decision into trouble. BUT! The staff involved in this whole process shamed us for not looking hard enough, which really upset me! I think they should have just been honest or pretended like they mistook it as tips. Besides from this, the facilities and activities were very good! The food/bar staff were super nice and welcoming, and the activities leader too!

Stayed at Bamboo Village Resort from October 14-18, 2024. Accommodations were quite different than what we expected. Pictures are not the same ‘bamboo’ bed frames as advertising on the website. Breakfast was the same daily, no variations. This was disappointing. Food was often cold & I requested staff to warm my plate a couple times. Staff was pleasant. Pool was refreshing since it was super hot & we wanted to cool off, however, smelled like it was not being chlorinated & cleaned properly. We always had to shower after a swim. I was surprised also, that there was no type of entertainment at the pool or bar area. My husband & I played our own music & danced while we swam. Beach is a far walk - we never even made it there. (not beachfront) You would need to take a taxi. Lights went out frequently, no standby working generator. Occasionally, there was no running water. I was ready to cancel my reservations after the water went off. Thankfully, it was off for a short while. However, it continued to go off throughout our stay. Phones did not work in room, we had to walk to reception each time we had a request. Although they advertise Wi-Fi, there is NO Wi-Fi in the rooms. Only near reception area. We actually had to go to the restaurant across the street to get WiFi service. I wouldn’t recommend a stay at Bamboo Village Resort. They have a lot of improvements they need to do to make it an inviting place to stay. Especially with their daily rates & calling themselves “resort”…this is not a resort

Had a terrible experience at Bamboo and do not recommend. We went there for a group trip which had been planned months earlier. A week before the trip they decided to do work on the pool and we couldn’t use the pool for a week till we left. Some staff were rude and very unprofessional. On some days the AC were turned off without informing everyone in the hotel. I spoke with the manager who tried to sound very patronising as well. The road leading to the hotel was flooded (wouldn’t blame them for this) but little or no alternative passages were provided. The breakfast was sub par and we constantly had to make requests for simple things like butter and sugar when they ran out. Was excited to go there but was very happy to leave. I could leave a 0/5 if it was possible.
