Wow. Truly amazing food. Staff is so friendly and attentive. Came during my lunch break and I’m so happy with my experience here. Keep it up guys. Brian our waiter informed us that it’s his 3rd day at the job and he did so well.
I went to The Harv Table for brunch. I had read a lot of good reviews about it, so I was super excited.
It’s inside a shopping centre and I was easy to spot, we ordered the magwinya and atchaar for starters and had Mogodu and lamb curry for mains.
The starters were nice, I enjoyed the magwinya’s, so soft and just enough sugar. I loved them.
Now the mains, the mains smelt good, especially the lamb I curry and I thought it was going to be delicious but it wasn’t, it okay . The Mogodu was literally julienned into such small pieces, it was hard to enjoy. We felt both dishes lacked flavour and needed a little punch.
The mark up on their wines was insane and the I felt the cocktails are way too expensive.
The service was pretty quick when we arrived, menus and complimentary magwinya’s came fairly quickly but the service sort of went downhill after being served our mains- our waiter didn’t really check on us for like an hour after that, until we asked for the bill. We would’ve liked to have dessert but we were put off a little bit.
The owner was nice and I thought the place has potential, so I’d go back to try their other dishes
I was surprised at how good this restaurant was. I had my doubts before, but I am happy I tried this place. The food was of good quality and a bigger portion than usual restaurants. They have a South African menu of choice, which is good for trying.
The only point was the load music inside the restaurant, which is not something I like but people may have no issue with it.
My friend flew in for 48hrs and we stumbled on the restaurant and tried it out. What a great surprise. Living out of SA she wanted a taste of home and this was perfect. Music was good, not too loud, food was incredible. I ordered Mogodu for takeaway and she ate Lamb-stew. I had a Barone cake while waiting for my food.
I loved the presentation, finishes and food flavour.
What was meant to be 30min coffee date with takeaways ended up being 3hrs with champagne, cake and food for home.
Our waiter Jabulani- what a gem!!! I firmly believe he’s service is what topped our experience. What amazing service, food recommendations & drink knowledge.
