What a wonderful experience! Sanza is a great host and a very talented chef, bringing different African flavors together - it was so delicious! His idea is to uplift his neighborhood and utilize food to bring people together - definitely recommend spending an evening at the Yeoville Dinner Club!!
Probably the best experience one could ask for when traveling to Johannesburg. Sanza, our host, conducts you through his food journey across Africa while educating on the history of South Africa and his own life interwoven into it. Not only playing the role of host, Sanza cooks a whole array of homemade pan African food. For tourists looking for a real, local and honest range of what Johannesburg has to offer, this is the place for you.
We fortunately had our dinner Tuesday evening so our dinner was more of a private experience, whereas most other days are larger community dinners where you will be dining with others. Sanza picked us up and dropped us off to our Uber, so those who might feel a bit uncomfortable in the Yeoville area will feel reassured immediately once you see him. Cash only establishment.
Again, best experience I’ve had and will remember this forever.
What a lovely experience and Sanza is a great host. Doing a great job.
I was initially nervous to be going to Yeoville but it ended up being very worthwhile. Sharing dinner with strangers from all walks of life is such a lovely concept. It felt like home cooked meals with a twist. Just one issue to improve on is having the welcome intro being done before the food is set on the table because as informative as it is, when hungry all I could think of is eating and kept losing focus from the stories.
This was one of the most unique dining experiences I’ve ever had. Sanza is not only an excellent chef, but an animated storyteller of his neighborhood and travels. His food draws inspiration from all over the continent and he brings an interesting and diverse mix of diners to his communal table. Highly recommend visiting this dinner club.
I have ALWAYS wanted to experience the Yeoville Dinner Club. It was worth every minute there. Sanza is an amazing host. The food was so divine. I truly enjoyed everything. We had (I think peanut butter) goat, Mozambican snapper, brinjal atchaar, sumac chicken, puff-puff, egusi, amongst others. The drinks were free flowing and delicious. It's such a unique experience and I'll definitely be back. Thank you Sanza. It is opposite Percy's African Food.
