a year agoTraveling with Afrokulcha was a terrible experience. The organizers kept a key detail regarding the trip from us until we were all in transit, I would have canceled and requested a refund if I had the information beforehand. The tours and excursions were badly planned, the only saving grace was that Ghana is an amazing place otherwise will never ever use them again. Would not recommend them to anyone, save yourself the trouble and organize your own trip.

a year agoWe travelled with Afrokulcha over the December 2022-Jan 2023 period to Ghana. We were promised a great experience but however this was not the case. Upon arrival in Ghana were told that our VIP tickets for Afrochella had been changed to General Access. We were told they made an executive decision to do so without consulting us as the festival had changed from a one day festival to a two day day festival. Then we were given the option to pay an additional ZAR3K if we wanted to experience VIP over the 2 day period, I dont know about the rest of the group, but my trip had been planned and budgeted. Had Afrokulcha told me before had when they made this decision, I would have had to rework my budget but I was not afforded this opportunity, I was told and essentially told to take it or leave it. The tour seemed overly booked and honestly speaking nothing was planned well to accommodate all these people. We had 40 people in the tour and I can tell you that managing 40 people was something that Afrokulcha had never done before. Also, I think the way that Nonku handled our grievances left an absolute bad taste in my mouth. Her first form was not responding to anything in the whatsapp group she created. She was kind enough to tell us to calculate how she was not making a profit from this trip though. Little details would have made a difference, for every tour having cold water available for the tours, Ghana is hot. We had to do ice runs everytime we left for a tour. We went on the tour of the castle which was a sombre trip then jiki jiki at the end of the trip we are told to tip/pay the tour guide, which isn't a problem but I was under the impression that all activities where paid for before hand and the ones that weren't we had been told before hand. (This was my favourite excursion-everyone should go and hear the story of the slave trade). If the trip was before 8am, surely they could have organised with the hotels to pack up a little breakfast so we dont feel rushed during breakfast etc. The group was peppered with seasoned travellers, who have experienced travelling to various parts of the world, its the little things that make or break a trip. Afrokulcha was nonchalant in addressing our issues, which was really disheartening. Ghana is a beautiful country with great experiences, but Afrokulcha ruined that. I wouldnt recommend them to plan any trip for me.

a year agoAbsolutely fantastic, perhaps one of the best travel experiences ever. If you want to see the best of what the continent has to offer, Afrokulcha travel is the only way to do it. When I joined the group tour to Senegal, I didn't have to worry about anything in preparing for the trip, including what to pack. My only responsibility was to pay. The team's professionalism is unparalleled. If you want to meet like-minded people who are interested in making memories and sharing new experiences in Africa, do yourself a favour and call, email, or simply say hello to Afrokulcha Travel on Instagram.

a year agoAVOID AFROK-LIES AT ALL COST. There's nothing intimate about the experience we had. I went on the Afrochela Ghana experience 2022 . We were promised VIP tickets only to be told on the day we only have general access. We were sold curated trips , what a joke the tour guides didn't even bother having a meet and greet for the group. Cultural activities were left to your imagination as to why monuments were built etc. Guides are uniformed about what they are offering , asked how long the boat trip is one is referred to onboard staff. The tour guides might as well be a tourist like oneself. The worst is not tour , its the inability of Nonku to address concerns instead she deletes comments on social media pages so she appears to have a spotless record. Numerous persons on our tour group tried engaging her on what was promised versus what was delivered instead she ignores you and deletes or blocks you . I am an avid and experienced traveler thank goodness I had a friend who stay in Ghana to assist me. There are better options than NONKU AND ASSOCIATES THAT LIE AVOID.

a year agoCompared to other group tours I have done, Afrokulcha Travel was sadly dissaponting. They did not deliver what they promised on the Ghana tour. The tone deaf responses from the organiser made it worse. Would not recommend.
