Balafon Beach Resort

For first time visitors to the Gambia I would recommend a different establishment. My friend and I are two young black women who wanted to enjoy our stay but were instead met with constant sexual advances made towards us by staff. The service is close to none. The food and drinks are not good, the breakfast isn’t worth waking up for and the whole experience was just too stressful. There is no concept of boundaries with staff members coming to our rooms to ask for our numbers or to take us out. The demographic in the hotel is majority white old couples. The lights in the room make you constantly want to sleep and there is a serious ant problem. Wish everyone the best of luck but would say it is definitely only for the brave. Best of luck to young traveler's especially solo. NB-If a member of staff tells you he lives in the hotel and hasn’t seen his family in weeks he is simply try to coerce you ladies please beware.

The Hotel is clean nice everythink what you need to relax. My BIG love was the Staff the Guys/Womens working there they help me on everythink what i ask always they treat me with Respect and Polite Yes for Sure i coming Back Kiss You Guys i am gonna miss You

The location is really good. Its directly at the beach, the beach is really nice and clean. The palms give the place a nice caribbean feeling. Most of the amendities were like half working. Like really loose. The Service was ok. We booked a room with two beds, got a room with one bed. First day we asked for a second bed, they said sure they will do it. Second day, no bed, we asked again Third day, no bed, we asked again Fourth day we got a bed. Sarja and the entertainment ping pong boy are really nice. A lot of other employees seem lazy. The people at the beach and on the street can be disturbing. The hotel restaurant is way to expensive, go to Justice or Poco Loco instead.

The resort requires a lot of TLC, none of the rooms come equipped with telephone, the internet is slow and unreliable, power shortages is a frequent thing. There are tiny living creatures in the pool despite being cleaned on a daily bases The staff are friendly and helpful, specially during the day. The resort serves a good continental breakfast. The food is average at best, their burgers are the best thing on the menu. There is mix clientele, a lot of people use the resort for hookups, one is likely to see young local man and woman with older foreign counterparts. Great location, lots of amenities within walking distance.

There is a big difference between the images and the videos that the hotel has put on its social networks. Me and my friends stayed there for two nights and we were disappointed to find that our room was awful for a 4-star hotel. As well as giving us a room that wasn't suitable for our booking, the fridge wasn't working and the water was running. There were no fittings in the shower and the mould in the room made us sick at the end of our stay. The wifi in the hotel doesn't work and nobody gave us any explanation. Customer service is barely available. You can't eat peacefully in the restaurant as there are lots of flies and bees. The food is not bad. I have to admit that in this bleak stay we had a few moments of pleasure thanks to Alieu who is a game man who works in the hotel. He did his best to please us. I give this hotel a 5/10 and take away the 4 star rating. I would not recommend it to anyone.
