Elephant Plains is a brand new luxury lodge located on the most spectacular view point in the whole of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Perched 941 metres above sea level, high upon the western escarpment of the Albertine rift in the north east of the park, the lodge offers panoramic views stretching for miles over the huge open grasslands to lake George.

Set in 80 acres of pristine wilderness, only 2 minutes to the park gate, no where else here can you sleep closer to the equator (N*S 0.0,25.172) with views of the equator monument visible from all around the lodge. Nestled next to beautiful lake Kikorongo this is where the open plains merge into the crystal waters and seeing large numbers of Elephants coming to drink from the water, hence the lodges name.

A short drive to the Kasenyi plains offers open savannah filled with various wild animals. This area has fantastic game viewing, a huge number of grassland birds and is a major breeding ground for the Ugandan Kob which readily attract lions and other big cats to the area. The open plains and large number of wildlife mean photographic safaris are extremely rewarding.

This was my first time in Kasese, hadn't been to this place before only read about it in books and papers. My expectations were high, so I wasn't disappointed. The team of staffs at the lodge gave me an experience that was therapeutic in nature, from receiving me to settling me in. The breakfast and meals, were all on point ; if tomorrow wouldn't end, I would love to spend more time and days in this great serene and hospitable environment.

Oh what a tonic! 💙  After a game drive in the heat of the savannah, nothing beats sliding into the cool waters of the infinity swimming pool at @elephantplainslodge It's the perfect place to chill after an afternoon boat safari aboard the MV Kazinga. The lush planting around the lodge soothe... the lodge's lemon and lime filled gin and tonics are the ultimate cool-me-down (and seriously: the best cocktails I've ever had at a lodge in Uganda). TripAdvisor "Travelers Choice" Elephant Plains Lodge has sensational views of Queen Elizabeth National Park, perched high above Lake Kikorongo and Lake George. Honestly, I'd stay here again just for the view 👀 ... and the swimming pool... and the FANTASTIC food... and the wonderfully friendly staff... and and and... I've been visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park for 15 years. It was great to be back in the bush for an inspiring week of exceptional sightings. Thanks to the team at Uganda Lodges for the lovely welcome and professional service throughout my stay. #queenelizabethnationalpark #safari #diaryofamuzungu #exploreUganda #QueenElizabethNationalPark

Our recent stay at Elephant Plains Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda was a fantastic experience. The view over Lake George was stunning, providing a serene backdrop for relaxation. The lodge's inviting main area perfectly blended comfort with the allure of the surrounding nature. The rooms are large and well-equipped. The attentive service especially by Ms. Lillian and Mr.Arnold truly stood out, adding a personal touch to our stay. The food was delicious, offering a variety of flavors and even a local food selection to enjoy. While a digital detox doesn`t harm, having internet boxes in the rooms could be a useful addition. In short, Elephant Plains Lodge is a gem. With its beautiful views, comfortable spaces, and great service, it's a perfect choice for a memorable getaway. Highly recommended!

Excellent service from David the manager and David our butler. But to be honest, all the staff were professional and friendly. Food was superb. Great view from the dining area. The only negative for me was a few issues with the pool that should be dealt with - especially the lack of view from an infinity/vanishing edge pool where you could no longer look across the QE National Park due to vegetation blocking the view. Ideally located but not making the most of it. Giving it 5 stars implies there is nothing to improve on which sadly there is - albeit minor. It's definitely a 4.5* but not a full 5.

We had a wonderful experience at this top notch lodge. Service, location and rooms were of high quality. Lillian was outstanding and our personal butler and she absolutely made sure all needs were met (e.g., shoes were cleaned on our return from safari, pack hot coffee for me as I like it). Forgot to mention that laundry service was free - didn't see that any of the other 5 luxury lodges we stayed at.
