“In the foothills of the mist-shrouded Virunga Massif nestles beautiful Sabyinyo. Here, the true spirit of conservation and rehabilitation can be felt everywhere: In our community-inspired luxurious lodge, our bountiful organic gardens, upliftment projects, abundant wildlife and, of course, the star attraction: Volcanoes National Park’s beloved mountain gorillas, and curious golden monkeys, among many others.”- Sabyinyo

Absolutely outstanding lodge on the Sabyinyo volcano. Very rugged mountain terrain. Lodge was a Governors Camp - now being operated as a Wilderness camp. Very cozy cottages with absolutely great service by all staff members. We highly recommend this lodge as a location to do the Gorilla and Golden Monkey treks.

So much to love about this outstanding place!! Staff is truly top notch making sure everyone is pampered. Food is unbelievably fresh (grown on premises) with great menu selections each day. Accommodation is world class with cozy bungalows nestled amongst jungle foliage. Beds, linens, towels are best quality. This is a must visit place for mountain gorilla trekking!!

Wow! Sabyinyo is so wonderful! I enjoyed three full days of being pampered. From the minute you arrive until the moment you leave you are treated exceptionally and like family. As a solo traveler the staff made sure I felt included and even joined me for meals a couple of times so I wasn’t eating alone. The cottage I stayed in was everything I could dream of. The perfect sanctuary to come back to after a full day of trekking and sightseeing. The food is so wonderful at Sabyinyo you won’t want to miss a meal. Make sure you have a cocktail before dinner in the lounge. Bartender is spot on for making specialty cocktails. The extra stairs you have to take to get to your cottage will be worth the great food and desserts you will no doubt indulge in. Staff is attentive. Chef was accommodating of all the random allergies and special request. Special kudos to Eric, Leonard, Claude and Peter. All whom are incredible in their positions and helped make my stay at Sabyinyo so magical. While driving away from Sabyinyo, all I could think of was how soon I could come back.

One of the most amazing hotels I've ever stayed at! We were so incredibly taken of. I cannot stress enough how much fabulous this hotel is. It was the perfect place to stay while going to see the Gorillas. Thank you to everyone who took care of us.
