Restaurant Review: Therapy
Location: 4/5
Food and beverage: 5/5
Bathroom: 4/5
Value for money: 4/5
Vibe: 5/5
Therapy joins a league of heavy-weight restaurants in the Kloof area – and they’re killing the game.
The open-plan restaurant is almost entirely visible from Park Street, just off Kloof Street. You’ll know you’re at the right place when you see a crowd of swankily dressed people strolling in. The street is well-lit, filled with other restaurants, and car guards with paid, covered parking within walking distance at the Kloof Lifestyle Center.
What we ate and drank:
Starters
Arancini (Lentil & Red Bean Bobotie, Parmesan Crema)
Grilled Squid (Lemon & Garlic Butter, Black Bean Paste, Chimichurri, Spring Onion Add: Chorizo) Both starters were tasty and beautifully plated (Master Chef influenced me okay).
Mains
6hr Pork Belly (Honey, Sesame Pak Choi, Young Carrots, White Wine Crema, Candied Peanuts)
Norwegian Salmon (Grilled with Beetroot & Feta, Pea Tapenade, Citrus Beurre Blanc)
Broccoli (Chilli EVOO, Roasted Garlic Emulsion)
Chef’s kiss for the phenomenal pork belly! I’m still to find a better-tasting pork belly…anywhere. Norwegian salmon was fresh and well-paired with accompanying veggies, but the pork belly stopped the show. Try it!
Zero space for dessert =|
Drinks
Drinks were disappointing, mocktails and cocktails were all juice-based with popular herb infusions like elderflower, but nothing stood out. Our waiter said the restaurant is continuously changing both drinks and food menu based on customer feedback so hopefully, this improved.
Bathroom
Yes, bathroom check for the girlies! Just see the pics below, well designed and clean, AND the hand wash and lotion are designer labeled so you won’t step out smelling like Wix air freshener ;D
Value for money and overall vibe
Simply put, we’ll go back! Think of Jo’burg’s atmosphere, diversity, and energy with Cape Town’s safety (LOL!).
I’ll end with a convo between my friend and I. Honestly speaking, Cape Town’s nightlife options don’t pull a young, black crowd. We like to dress up and expect everyone to make an effort too. The location/restaurant decor and design also need to match our level of fancy if we’re spending money, AND the music and vibes need to match. Lastly, we aren’t mad if dinner turns into a party later =)
Therapy and Allure Rooftop Bar, are two of the spots getting it right in Cape Town.
