Treasure Makwanise: A Renowned Zimbabwean Chef

Treasure Makwanise is a name that is synonymous with culinary excellence. Born in Zimbabwe, Treasure has always had a passion for food and cooking. From a young age, he honed his skills in the kitchen, experimenting with flavors and techniques, and dreaming of one day sharing his creations with the world.

His unique approach to cooking, blending contemporary flavors with a myriad of cooking techniques learned over years of international experience all come together at Anda Kigali.

I think Zimbabweans are known to be smart, husltin’, hard workers, and rags to riches stories are a dime a dozen in Africa, but this? This is on another level! From needing to be self-dependent due to the loss of his parents, crossing the border from Zimbabwe, and becoming homeless in South Africa at sixteen. Treasaure’s story amplifies his achievements as an internationally experienced and accomplished chef. 

The journey to Anda Kigali

Treasure spent some years working in the international kitchens of Viceroy Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Disney cruise liner, and Frégate Private Island in the Seychelles before being appointed Executive Chef at One & Only’s luxury resort, Nyungwe House, in southwestern Rwanda.
