The aesthetics are giving elegant and classy. The nighttime music is great and the service is just as good. Their food is over the top, had their African cuisine and it tasted like it was made out of my grandmother's kitchen.
American tourist trap. We had to pay $10,000 rand for a section, which was no problem. The only thing was everyone else in the same section as us didn't pay nearly the same amount. Our food was cold and didn't taste good. The environment is definitely upscale and the section was dope compared to the smaller sections. I just recommend that if you are American watch your back.
Beautiful place and nice food but there was no tripe, calamari or chocolate milkshake available despite being on the menu. Waiter informed us that the calamari cannot be replaced with something else so another meal should be ordered. Kitchen seemed a bit slow on some items also. There was a staff meeting held while there, seemed a bit heated and shouldn't have been done in front of patrons. Left my pocket knife with security when I entered but didn't get it back because the guy who was on duty apparently left with it when his shift ended.
Our crew of 10 visited while here on vacation from the states. We were able to book a spacious section same day and spent about 500usd for 3 bottles, cigars, waters, hookah and soft drinks. It’s a nice lounge, very clean, and professional staff. They even sell food.
This is more of a pregame spot, a social meet up spot, an older crowd, an international crowd, and I didn’t care for the dj that played on our night. It was more so a very chill vibe and I thought the music was all over the place.
At 2am we left our section and went to Coco, a drastically different vibe, more lively crowd with music we are used to hearing in the states.
Ayepyep is a cool place for a nice, chill vibe. The VIPs are spacious, fresh air flows through the venue and they have adequate/attentive staff. The lounge got at its peak closer to 1am, but even then most people are talking to each other and on their phones scrolling.
I do recommend Ayepyep to all travelers. It’s a nice experience but if you are looking for a main event/entertainment activity with a more lively feel to it, I suggest pregame here at the bar, then find yourself at Saint, Coco, or Souk for different vibe/better music later in the evening.
