Looks very appealing but I didn’t have a good experience. I don’t think I’ll go back given the other options in the area. The food took very long. I was told there is one chef in the kitchen. It’s Sunday. Lots of people are out looking for a place to eat. Why one chef? Then the food did not match the description. I took this up with manager who explained they changed it because previous customers complained. So I asked that they update their description of the Crunchy Baguette RollS With sirloin strips and Parmesan (i got a soft hamburger roll with a sirloin stew in it - the bread got soggy very fast - and no hint of Parmesan). The day before my hubby had a similar experience : very slow kitchen and a bad coffee. It’s a pity, they have a great spot, they should put 150% into their food quality otherwise they will surely be replaced. And the responses by the “owner” to the reviews people have left is starting to look like lip service.
Nice music and atmosphere and the interior is well done. Coffee is okay. Menu has a lot of options. Biggest issue is that the kitchen is incredibly slow. It took about 40 minutes for just fried eggs and halloumi to be made. Salad leaves in the dish were also not the most fresh. Eggs were ordered soft but made medium. Disappointing.
I went to Saint Germain today for brunch with the boyfriend. It’s a charming spot that serves great coffee. The portions are generous and the food was fresh. I had the croque madame which was rich, cheesy and delicious. My boyfriend had the poulet moutarde which was tasty (not sure I’d order that over some of the other options though). The pain perdu looked divine, with soft thick brioche and fresh fruit (i was in the mood for something savoury though). It’s quite a small space (classic French cafe) so it can feel a bit crowded.
Disappointing. Waited over an hour to be served (this can be excused by the fact that the chef was apparently alone on this day - waiter were overwhelmed), but food was so disappointing. I ordered the crunchy baguette and was met by what I can almost swear was a nandos bread roll. So soft, not crunchy at all. Great insta marketing but not up to French gourmet standards at all .

A really disappointing evening at Saint Germain at 44 Stanley. We ordered something incredibly simple—just bacon and eggs, and the halloumi breakfast. There were no more than three other couples in the entire restaurant, so there was no excuse for what followed.
It took 45 minutes for the bacon and eggs to arrive. The halloumi breakfast came out nearly an hour later, and even then, it was completely wrong. Instead of the meal described on the menu—eggs, halloumi cheese, sautéed tomatoes, baby spinach, and bread—we were served a halloumi salad with a runny egg. We didn’t order a salad, and nowhere on the menu does it suggest that’s what the halloumi breakfast includes. Why were we served something entirely different?
The champagne we ordered was flat, the service was painfully slow, and the staff’s attitude throughout was passive-aggressive, as if we were the ones causing trouble simply for expecting the correct food. The woman in charge, Ayom, was especially rude and dismissive—her attitude just amplified the poor experience. She became openly passive-aggressive when we pointed out the issues, instead of apologising or trying to correct anything.
For a restaurant that positions itself as premium, the service, attention to detail, and hospitality were absolutely lacking. We won’t be returning, and I genuinely hope the owner is aware of the kind of service being delivered by the current team. It’s unacceptable.
